I looked out the big windows over the valley and ran for the camera.
How many times have I focused in on these evergreens across the way? Each time I try to capture the wonder I feel when I see how the light is accentuating their beauty. I am never quite satisfied but I share them with you anyway.
It is full on Art Days for me until the end of Monday December 6, 2010.
Today I am taking my oil painting “Cabin on Shore” over to our fancy Oceanwood Inn to be placed prominently on a small easel. I am honoured to be their feature artist for the month of December.
Then I am taking my oil painting “Whisper” and two canvas photography prints down to the Mayne Island Reading Centre (the Library) for the Mayne Island Trincomali Community Arts Council Light and Dark group show that opens tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm.
This evening I am going to go to the Mayne Island Hardward’s Décor Store (or Sue’s Place) for their ladies night. My prints, calendars and cards are included with many special items that have been brought in for local Christmas shopping.
But Friday December 3, 2010 at 7:00 am PST right here on Creative Potager is when the really big event begins. The first of three original oil paintings will go on sale. The second will go up on Saturday and the third on Sunday. After each of the three paintings become available they will remain on sale until sold or midnight PST Monday December 6, 2010, whichever comes first. So exciting!
There is a pre-post with all the critical information for Buyers which is now posted.
Sprout question: What advice does your wise-self offer for creative abundance?
p.s. I hope you will join me and post your encouragement, thoughts and any interesting links for the duration of this special Creative Potager event. You have each been so much a part of my work this year. I would be thrilled if you showed up with your party shoes on.

Ohhhhhhh, that photograph! No wonder you RAN for your camera! Your calendar indicates that you’re one Creatively Busy Bee, whew! I’m exhausted just reading your up-and-coming agenda!
Sproud question: What advice does your wise-self offer for creative abundance?
It says, remember that abundance wears many hats, so give yourself plenty of space (not just physical space) to accomodate them all.
Such wise advice Laurie… in between these art events the next few days I am sending out the agenda for the Mayne Island Housing Options Task Force meeting next week that I chair and this afternoon is a leadership coaching day. So I can perfectly understand about those many hats you are speaking about. I keep Creative Potager space for creative work and that seems to serve me well. I also need just a little space between my hats otherwise it can be difficult to figure out what one I need to wearing. Is it my mom hat or my leadership coaching hat? Is it my photography skills someone is interested in or do they need encouragement to go out and take their own photographs? Is someone interested in my work as an artist or do they simply need some resilience time by slipping into one of my paintings. As a woman of many hat yourself Laurie, I am not surprised that your wise-self stepped right up to remind us of this aspect of abundance.
!So much exciting news! Congrats & enjoy.
Thanks Jose! I expect it shall be delightful. Always fun to try new things.
Terrill, Beautiful awareness, lovely technique, and how wonderful to have the technology to share it! I love reading about your artistry. What gifts you share.
Thank you.
Thank you Meenakshi This image is straight up photography with just minor adjustments to contrast, colour and noise. I do love the ease of digital photography and our online technology. Creative Potager would not be what it is without this capacity.
You’ve captured the beauty of the light playing in your evergreens across the way wonderfully. I love that you take the time to soak in the natural wonders of your day and am grateful that you choose to share.
Your Sprout question today is a powerful one. I will give myself an abundance of space in which to sit with this question for a while and let my wise self answer.
Thank you.
You are welcome Delaney. I look forward to hearing what answer surfaces. Sometimes when a question touches us deeply it can take a few days.
I recently heard back via a direct email from a Creative Potager reader who had responded to a sprout question and then made a commitment to complete a large creative project. She emailed me to say it was done and provide me the link to have a look. So you just never know what will happen when you “sit” with one of these questions.
Delightful news that Oceanwood is featuring visual artists. What a wonderful venue in which to share your work.
It is good news. This is something new they are trying. I think I am the first local artist and only the second artist to be featured. We are planning a more elaborate feature event for June but it is way too early to share… it is still a small sprout not even out of the ground yet. But the seed is planted and growing.
Congratulations on reaching beyond and seeking out new venues. You are a true adventurer. And to borrow from your theme, a gardener for all Mayne Island artists.
In this case Leanne the Oceanwood Inn reached out to me which is always nice to have happen. There is something very special about being asked out of the blue to do something that is a perfect fit. I am also suspicious Leanne that I may be a “true adventurer” as well – which always helps.
Dear readers, do you ever notice that when you are ready to do something the opportunities seem to appear and present themselves? I just love it when that happens. I set the intention and go forth and there they are… waiting for me to follow up and connect.
Sounds so exciting! Don’t forget to breathe and have fun!
Sprout Question: The advice my wise-self is offering for creative abundance is: “just pick up the darn paint brush, already.” Okay… wise-self is a little harsh today!! But having said that, I am off to paint for the first time in a few weeks.
Let me check…. yes, I am breathing Sue. I am really looking forward to all the connecting both in person and on line. It will be a busy few days but then I will be on the wind down for the holidays. Enjoy your painting time.
I laughed gently and with compassion when I read Sue’s sprout response. Sometimes our wise-self knows just the kind of push we need. She will smile and hug us later when we are giddy with achievement. She is not so much harsh as firm when we our wringing our hands and not getting on with it. So there she goes… one happy artist off to paint.
Congratulations, Terrill! You have an exciting month coming up. I love, love, love this photograph. It is truly magnificent. I think you have captured the fog and trees and sun beautifully.
My wise self says lots of things at different times. Sometimes it urges more space, more silence, between creations. It urges me to pay attention and be ready for the next flow of the river to come through. You never know what gift wants to flow through. We need to be open and ready.
I so agree Kathy “open and ready”… flowing, embracing and accepting without judgement our creative. Thank you for all your encouragement and support.
Dear readers, it is time to call it a day. The 1st post for the 1st of 3 oil paintings to go on Sale is ready – 7:00 am PST right here on Creative Potager. I hope you have a chance to come by and maybe have a hot cup of your favourite beverage and a chat. It would be lovely to have your company.
