Tis the Season

Well, today is the day!

Today is the day that Creative Potager holidays begin. Thank you every reader who dropped by especially those who took the time to comment and be part of a delightful, passionate and intelligent creative community. I have enjoyed your companionship, your humour, and your vulnerability.

Today is also our first anniversary. David and I eloped one year ago today. Here is the evidence – as we prepare to share cake with friends who stood up with us.

We wish you the very best of the holiday season.

I look forward to seeing you again with a new post on Monday, December 27, 2010.

Before we go too far though, I invite you to drop in to Leanne Dyck’s The Sweater Curse blog today where I have a guest post “Within a Curse.

Sprout question: What is your favourite holiday season greeting?

Thank you for your community, support, encouragement and purchases of my photographs, calendars and paintings in 2010!

Please note: Creative Potager will be on holidays beginning Saturday, December 11, 2010 and will return on its one year anniversary Monday, December 27, 2010.

  1. Terrill – The photographs are wonderful, I especially love the one of you and David in your Santa hats. Happy anniversary!

Sprout question: What is your favorite holiday season greeting?

May the best of the season be yours.

    • Thanks Laurie. Our Santa hat photo I took last year on Christmas eve using a timer. I have found them for this year and think maybe I will bring them out today or maybe tomorrow when we go for dinner with friends. They do kind of bring the season’s spirit to people’s face as they grin at us.

Warm squeeze Laurie to you and yours!

  2. Terrill,

It is we who should be thanking you for the gifts you share with us throughout the year! Your friends, family and blog readers as well art fans are the lucky ones!

Congratulations on your anniversary ! Have a wondrous abundant spirit filled Holiday!

    I am Love, Jeff

    • What a nice thing to say Jeff! It is a real pleasure to host Creative Potager. Thank you for anniversary and holiday wishes as well.

Jeff best of the holiday to you, your special furry friends and your mom.

  3. Oh I loved seeing your pictures! Thank you. It’s always so good to see more photos of us all…so we can really imagine what we look like in person. Congratulations for your one year anniversary and enjoy your holiday break!

  4. What wonderful photographs and such beautiful people featured in them. This blogsite has been a special joy all year, and now with the holidays approaching it is certainly time for you and David to sit back and re-charge, while reveling in the fantastic community you’ve built at this magical place. Your paintings and your remarkable setting have combined to give your readers the best of two worlds, and your eternal effervescence is something we all are grateful to behold.

The best Christmas of all to the Welchs, and here’s to the happiest of New Years for 2011.

True to form, I will make some kind of “cinematic” reference here in lieu of a particular holiday greeting, but broaching a short Canadian animated film that I am showing to my classes today, one I’m sure you know well (by Raymond Briggs), “The Snowman”

    The Snowman (1982)
    Music: Howard Blake
    Lyrics: Howard Blake

    “Walking in the Air”

    We’re walking in the air
We’re floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly

    I’m holding very tight
I’m riding in the midnight blue
I’m finding I can fly so high above with you

    On across the world
The villages go by like dreams
    The rivers and the hills
    The forests and the streams

    Children gaze open mouthed
    Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes

    We’re soaring in the air
We’re swimming in the frozen sky
We’re drifting over icy mountains floating by

    Suddenly swooping low
    On an ocean deep
Rousing up a mighty monster from its sleep

    We’re walking in the air
We’re dancing in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly

  7. How am I going to refrain from click your link? : )
Thank you for those beaufiul pictures and for the shout out.
My favourite Christmas greeting: Gledileg jol
Merry Christmas in Icelandic. It’s not written correctly, but, sadly, my computer can’t type in Icelandic.
I also like Happy Holidays because it includes others of different traditions.

    • Leanne what a lovely addition – an Icelandic season’s greeting. Thank you. Happy holidays my friend and neighbour. It has been such a joy to share this online space as well as your real time smile and laughter.

    Lovely pictures and cake!

I too am taking a wee break and will be back in the new year…See and read you then

  9. Happy Anniversary Terrill and David. I can’t tell you how amazed I am at your photographs, I always thought that you were a very precocious 12 year old from your Icon photo and your light-hearted take on things. I didn’t know you were old enough to get married! Really, I was looking for your paintings and found this cheery Holiday Message instead. Lovely!

  10. Pingback: Musical “Scrooge” with Albert Finney, Takemitsu Festival-”Ran,” “Kwaidan,” “Pitfall,” “Harikiri,” “Samurai Rebellion,” “Alone Across the Pacific” and more on Monday Mornin

  11. Terill, I have missed your blog … but haven’t had the energy to drop by … the “Noah worries” were overwhelming … he was at death’s door on the 11th and until the 14th … when surgery finally happened at the University of Minnesota Vet Med Center. Dear God, what a journey … 3 clinics later, 500 tests later. Well, love is always worth it, and he has been a dear and spirited friend … it was the least we could do for our Noah.

Otherwise, congrats on the anniversary! Wow, so wonderful. Loved the photos. I also have a dec. anniversary, the 18th, and after 15 years … think John might be a keeper, we’ll see! 🙂

Hoping your season is peaceful and filled with the joy of love. –Daisy (and Noah 🙂
