Just three days ago, on December 27th, it was the fourth anniversary of Creative Potager. During this four years, the space has shifted and changed with the patterns and needs of my life. We have shared much haven’t we? Blogging is sometimes a little like a public journal. It captures more than we intend because of the comfortable conversational exchanges. It doesn’t capture all of course. An artist has to have a few secrets. But it does string together my intentions, my focus, the main events and the rhythms of my work. Much has happened in four years and much has remained the same.
I still take you on long walks where the winter afternoon light is fine.
Quality photography prints available HERE.
Places where the Surfbirds entertain with flashes of white above the water.
Mallard ducks can surprise as I climb over large sandstone rocks along the shore.
Quality photography prints available HERE.
Places where trees embrace moments that we may not have noticed otherwise.
Places on a small island off the southwest coast of Canada where the sea is ever-present.
Thank you for walking with me this past four years.
Thank you for joining me in the studio to render these impressions from our walks.
Together, we have mixed paint.
We have brushed it onto canvases and gessobord.
We have pushed it around with a palette knife.
In a effort to render those walks and those moments, where the heart and soul is most alive, I have worked hard both en plein air and in the studio. And you have been the most gracious, supportive and encouraging of company.
Tomorrow, I shall post on the Terrill Welch Artist website my personal selection of the best thirteen of 2013 paintings. There were over fifty finished works to consider so it wasn’t an easy task to choose just thirteen. However, without hesitation I can say it was a good year and a year you were so much a part of making it so.
Thank you! You are one of the finest of Monday morning blessing.
This not the end of course, just a pause for acknowledgment before we proceed into 2014 which is shaping up to be a truly grand adventure. More about this next week.
I have no question today so I ask instead – What question do you most want to answer before the end of 2013?
Please note: The last four photographs were taken by photographer Allison Mullally at a recent studio photography shoot.

Congratulations, Terrill. Looking forward to another four years.
Thank you for capturing those lovely images.
Looking forward to sharing with you Leanne and it is always a pleasure to share our island and the studio.
CONGRATULATIONS on your four-year blogging anniversary. Whoohoo! And I’m proud to say that I’ve been an avid follower from the beginning! It’s been such a pleasure. Any artistic information I’ve retained in my brain stems directly from what I’ve learned here; especially on the step-by-step progression journey’s you periodically gift us with.
What question do I most want to have answered before 2013 shed’s it skin?
Well…if I’d really like to know if our home will sell and we’ll get to relocate in 2014. However, I’ll sit tight and bide my time, knowing that everything has a season. It will happen when it’s suppose to happen, and not a moment sooner 🙂
Hum, now that is an interesting question to want to answer Laurie and I agree “it will happen when it’s suppose to happen, and not a moment sooner” – darn anyway! Thank you for your congratulations and yes I think you have had close a 100% comment rate for every post since the very beginning – today’s post was very much dedicated to you and a handful others who have been regular visitors.
Terrill, I have enjoyed following your blog. I remember well when you first opened the pages with the name Creative Potager. I thought to myself, Hmmm…a soup garden! Little did I know then what a fine and varied garden it would become! Congratulations!
It was a name I attached on an inspiration whim that I am now happy to claim Sandi. And sometimes I post about soup 😉 So glad to have you as a regular visitor to the Creative Potager community Sandi 🙂
Congratulations ! It has been an awesome experience to share in your journey as an evolving artist and woman… you have inspired so many, and continue to do so.
Thank you Jeff and I smile as I think about how you have been part of this journey right for the tentative beginnings of Creative Potager. Such a pleasure to have you looking over my shoulder and sharing your own inspiring photography as well.
Has it been four years already? How awesome…time does fly. I am just reading Jeff’s comment right now and would like to echo his words. You are an inspiration.
Kathy it is because of you that I decided to do a wordpress blog so please take a bow and know that ability to inspire is yours to claim. Thank you for your ongoing visits and support in my somewhat quieter corner of the blogosphere.
I like quiet. The *real me* is very quiet. It’s only the writing me that isn’t. Strange. I am glad for any inspiration given.
It is truly incredible how far you have come in four years Terrill, in ever sense!!!
Here’s to eight more right off the bat!!!!
LOL! Eight? Oh I do hope I have more than eight painting years left. I will never accomplish all that I want to do in such a short time span Sam. But I know life has its own plans for us so I am going to be happy with whatever I have and use it to its utmost – every wee second of it!
Hip Hip Hurrah! A milestone to be sure. You do such lovely work which includes the world I know and love – water and landscape joy!
Your comment brings a smile to my face this morning Patricia. I am just about to post a new offering which I think will be to your liking – Sunrise to sunset traveling the British Columbia west coast water highway.
