Terrill — That SPLENDIFIC news; my hat is off to you. CONGRATULATIONS!
You asked, “What would be your quotable quote if a reporter was to call YOU this afternoon?”
“Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.” — Laurie Buchanan
Oh Laurie, I so new when I asked this question what your answer would be! It is a great thing to be know for and to be your signature quote.
Terrill,
Great News! You have embraced this experience so effortlessly, it seems! Congratulations, nice piece in the paper as well,
Quotable quote: see what your looking at, or photography taught me to see the details, the beauty of everyday! Jeff Stroud
I love both of these Jeff but it is the first that really grabs me! I am not sure how effortless all this was – that part may be an illusion created in the telling. I, like everyone, struggle with moments of self-doubt and even despair about every being able to accomplish what I set out to do. This aspect may remain relatively hidden because I refuse to dwell on what is not working and insist on stepping through this maze onto a path that I find enriching and fulfilling. This persistent search does not come in giant steps but rather many zig-zagging small shuffles that only look like leaps in hind-sight.
Yes Terrill, that is it correctly. I know we all have self doubts, yet honesty, authenticity is what you express in your blogs and your art. Which gives it all meaning and purpose!
Thrilled for you! Will you be displaying some of the pieces you created during your artist’s European date?
As for the quote: (inspired by numerous signs around here stating the obvious ‘ROAD ENDS’)
“The road ends, but the path continues.” me
Oh I do like that quote of yours Laura. We have a road like this with a path that we walk regularly. It is a good metaphor for life. I will have some of my new larger paintings based on the painting sketches and photographs from when I was travel but I have decided to keep as many of the original sketches as I can hang onto for now (a few have never even made it back to Canada with me as they found homes along the way.) I have however released a new 2015 calendar with 12 of the painting sketches in it. You can take a peek if you like at: http://www.redbubble.com/people/terrillwelch/calendars/12725711-a-brush-with-europe-traveling-painting-sketches-by-terrill-welch The beauty about these calendars is that people sometimes frame the images at the end of year because the quality of the paper is good. I already have a few in the studio for the event in November and I am quite pleased with them.
Congratulations Terrill!! While your art continues to grow, your recognition continues to expand. It is clear enough that your appeal is now towards a much wider market! I am so happy for you!
Are you sure you have the right person? and then quickly “You bet you do!”
Excellent quotable quote Sam! 🙂 I am hopeful that my audience is expanding and growing as this is necessary to find homes for the paintings that keep appearing on the canvases I bring home. If not, I am going to build a platform and hoist them to the ceiling like Emily Carr did with hers.
